The advantages of a socialist system motivate all sectors, pool all resources and coordinate all efforts to complete key national undertakings, said Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday. 

Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks in a speech at a gathering at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing to honor those who made outstanding contributions to the Beijing Olympic Winter Games and the Beijing Paralympic Winter Games. 

The president noted that the Winter Games was a complex and systematic project, and praised the preparatory work of the organizing committee's staff. 

He also stressed the importance of upholding the centralized and unified leadership of the Party.
