At least 24 people have been killed in landslides and flooding across central and southern Philippines in wake of tropical storm Megi, the country's national disaster agency said on Monday.

Megi made landfall in the central Philippine province on Sunday morning and unleashed floods and set off landslides over the weekend.

It has now been downgraded from a tropical storm to a tropical depression, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration on Monday.

Early media reports said over 136,000 people were affected in central and southern Philippines and more than 13,000 displaced people were sheltering in evacuation centers.
