Philippine Secretary of Defense Delfin Lorenzana is calling on the U.S. to back up its 2021 Country Report on Human Rights Practices with details. The report says members of the Philippine security forces committed "significant" human rights abuses. In a statement, Lorenzana called the report a "witch hunt" without data. He says if details can be provided, an independent constitutional body in the Philippines will verify them. He also says if accurate, any offenders will be punished.
