U.S. Senator Steve Daines and Representative Victoria Spartz arrived in Kyiv on Thursday, becoming the first American officials to turn up since the start of Russian advance in Ukraine, the New York Times reported.

They were invited by the Ukrainian government, with just over a day's notice, the report said.

The two U.S. lawmakers also visited Bucha.

The visit came as the Biden administration is considering sending a high-level official to Kyiv in show of support.
