The oriental white stork, hailed as the "national treasure" of the bird kingdom, is under first-class state protection in China with only a population of 7,400 nationwide. Oriental white storks spend winter on the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River every year and build their nests at some high places like power transmission towers.
Recently, an oriental white stork couple gave birth to their nestlings at a power transmission tower in Gaoyou City, east China's Jiangsu Province. Take a closer look at the oriental white stork babies as they turn one month old.
