European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has appealed to European Union member states to supply weapons to Ukraine as soon as possible.

"I don't distinguish between heavy and light weapons. Ukraine should get what it needs for defense and what it can handle," she said in an interview published on Sunday in the Bild am Sonntag newspaper.
