The China National Botanical Garden was unveiled in Beijing on April 18, as part of a plan to preserve biodiversity. With a total planned area of nearly 600 hectares, the garden boasts more than 30,000 species of plants, accounting for about 10 percent of the world's total. The logo of the National Botanical Garden was designed and created by artist Han Meilin, using two rare native plants from China, ginkgo and metasequoia.
