Shanghai politician registers as deliveryman: 'I see a lot of ordinary beauty'
01:11

Shao Nan, a member of the Shanghai Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), has been moonlighting as a deliveryman since March 31. Due to low price markups on drug orders, few deliverymen are willing to take them. But Shao sees things differently: He only takes these orders as "many drugs are in urgent need." His reasoning is quite simple: It's complicated for the public to buy medicine.

He hopes people will not forget these riders once the outbreak is over, since we can't imagine our diminished quality of life without these grassroots workers. "There are still some people working silently for you at this difficult time. They are indispensable to the city. The flowing landscapes we see and the capillaries in these cities would be blocked without them. If every capillary is dredged, the city will feel much better," Shao said.
