The Chinese mainland recorded 2,761 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, with 2,753 linked to local transmissions and eight from overseas, according to data from the National Health Commission on Wednesday.

A total of 17,166 new asymptomatic cases were also recorded on Tuesday, and 266,288 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation.

Confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland now total 191,112, with the death toll at 4,655.

The latest tally of confirmed cases in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan region is as follows:

Hong Kong: 309,935 (67,882 recoveries, 9,176 deaths)

Macao: 82 (82 recoveries)

Taiwan: 37,710 (13,742 recoveries, 856 deaths)
