China-Mozambique Ties: Defense ministers hold talks to promote ties

Chinese Defense Minister Wei Fenghe spoke to his Mozambique counterpart Cristóvão Artur Chume via video link late on Tuesday. The ministers praised the friendship between their countries and militaries, and discussed common concerns. Wei said China is looking to promote military ties with Mozambique, with high-level communications, joint anti-pandemic efforts and countering hegemony and power politics. Chume said Mozambique firmly supports China in protecting its core interests in international issues. He said Mozambique is looking to strengthen mutual trust and promote sustained military ties between both sides.
