The 2022 Annual Conference of the Boao Forum for Asia has kicked off in south China's Hainan Province. The theme of the conference, running from April 20 to 22, is "The World in COVID-19 & Beyond: Working Together for Global Development and Shared Future."
The conference is addressing topics of mutual interest, including carbon neutrality, cooperation under the pandemic, the digital economy and the metaverse, as well as subjects concerning host province Hainan, such as biodiversity protection and the development of its free trade port.
About 3,000 people are due to attend the conference, and Hainan has taken strict anti-pandemic measures. All participants are living in a closed loop during the event and should be fully vaccinated. In addition, attendees will be tested daily for COVID-19.
This year's conference is an on-site event supplemented with online links, with delegates from governments, businesses, academia and media from all over the world discussing the post-pandemic development agenda for Asia and the world.
