Biden meets Ukrainian prime minister in Washington

U.S. President Joe Biden on Thursday met Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, who is in Washington for the 2022 Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. 

Shmyhal said in a Telegram post that he had "a fruitful dialogue to stop Russia" with the U.S. president as the two discussed developments in the Ukraine situation.

The prime minister also met other senior U.S. officials, including Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and discussed topics including weapons and financial aid to Ukraine, as well as sanctions to pressure Russia.
