Today marks the 27th World Book and Copyright Day. Latest data shows that the reading rate of Chinese adults stands at 81.3 percent, compared with 54.9 percent 10 years ago. There were also 494 million digital readers in China, with an average reading volume of 9.1 e-books per person.

In 2013, the promotion of "nationwide reading" was brought into the spotlight as a national policy. Chinese President Xi Jinping has not only been an enthusiastic reader himself, but also encourages people to read more.
