Winners of the 2022 New York Festivals TV and Film Awards were announced on April 26 at its virtual Storytellers Gala event. CGTN's New Year's special music video "A Musical Toast to 2022" won a gold medal in the Performing Arts Special category. CGTN has also been honored with two silver and three bronze awards in other categories.
Engaging film and television entries created by filmmakers and storytellers from 42 countries and regions were judged online by the jury. All entries in the 2022 competition were judged online and screened by NYF's TV and Film Awards Grand Jury of over 200 producers, directors, writers, and other creative media professionals from around the globe.

The music video of "A Musical Toast to 2022" gathered musicians from around the world, who sent their best wishes by recreating a famous piece of Chinese sonata using their own distinctive instruments. Known as the Festival Overture, the original sonata was composed by renowned Chinese musician Shi Wanchun.

Young musicians from eight countries performed the artist's best-known work in a new eclectic fashion to send good cheer and festive blessings to people all around the world.
The music from various continents was collected and edited in Beijing. The musicians added to the exciting ambience and scenery by performing at various venues, including on a rooftop, by the sea, in a narrow alley and on campus.
