China has launched a scientific expedition of Mount Qomolangma called the "Peak Mission," with more than 270 expedition members taking part. It is being conducted at an altitude of over 8,000 meters. Mount Qomolangma is not only the dream of mountaineering enthusiasts around the world, but also an important landmark for international scientists to study climate change at the world's "third pole" – the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau.
