Chinese shuttlers enter last eight in Badminton Asia Championships

Chinese duo Ren Xiangyu and Tan Qiang stunned men's doubles top seeds from Indonesia to enter the last eight in the Badminton Asia Championships on Thursday, while several other Chinese players also advanced in the mixed doubles, women's doubles, and women's singles events.

Ren and Tan outclassed Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan 21-9, 21-15, staging one of the biggest highlights of the day.

Also on Thursday, two Chinese pairs entered the mixed doubles last eight. Olympic champions Wang Yilyu and Huang Dongping needed only 27 minutes to beat Malaysian duo Chen Tang Jie and Peck Yen Wei 21-9, 21-19, while compatriots Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong swept past their opponents in a 2-0 victory as well.

In the women's doubles, Chen Qingchen and Jia Yifan downed compatriots Zhang Qingyu and Zhang Meixin to advance.

China's He Bingjiao, who is in good form after winning the South Korea Masters women's singles title last week against Olympic champion Chen Yufei, eased past Kisona Selvaduray of Malaysia 21-18, 21-14.
