China's hotel sector was valued at over $57 billion in 2020 despite the COVID-19 pandemic, and the eastern metropolis of Shanghai was a major contributor to this figure. Latest figures are not out yet, but the sector is expected to take a hit as the city's fight against a recent resurgence of the virus enters the second month.
