China successfully launched two new satellites from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in the country's northwest at 12:11 p.m. (BJT) Friday.

The satellites, Siwei 01 and 02, were sent into orbit by a Long March-2C carrier rocket. They will provide commercial remote sensing data services for industries including surveying and mapping, environmental protection, as well as urban security and digital rural development.

Friday's launch was the 417th mission of the Long March rocket series.
