The Chinese mainland recorded 1,424 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Friday with 1,410 linked to local transmissions and 14 from overseas, data from the National Health Commission showed on Saturday.

A total of 9,369 new asymptomatic cases were also recorded on Friday, and 191,036 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation.

Confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland now total 215,667, with the death toll at 5,022.

The latest tally of confirmed cases in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan region is as follows:

Hong Kong: 330,599 (59,316 recoveries, 9,298 deaths)

Macao: 82 (82 recoveries)

Taiwan: 100,753 (13,742 recoveries, 862 deaths)
