Evacuation operation from the Azovstal steel plant in the Ukrainian city of Mariupol is underway, the United Nations has confirmed, according to the AP.

UN humanitarian spokesman Saviano Abreu told the AP that the evacuation effort was being made in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross and in coordination with Ukrainian and Russian officials.
