Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said he will "most probably" have a call with Russian President Vladimir Putin this week, Turkish media reported on Monday.
"Our wish is that we bring the leaders together in Istanbul or Ankara," he told reporters after the Eid prayer. "The solution point for the steps to be taken in the east of Ukraine will be Turkey. It will be Istanbul or Ankara," Erdogan said.
The presidents of Turkey and Russia have had several phone conversations since February 24, with the most recent one on April 28.
Turkey has long expressed a willingness to facilitate peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.
In late March, Russia and Ukraine held a round of face-to-face peace talks in Istanbul.
