At least 10 U.S. states have reported surging severe hepatitis cases in children. Alabama reported nine acute hepatitis cases in children, all of whom tested positive for adenovirus, which experts say could be an "under-recognized" contributor. About a dozen other cases are also being investigated in nine other U.S. states.
