Beijing reported 53 new local COVID-19 infections from 3:00 p.m. Monday to 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, including 47 confirmed cases and six asymptomatic, said Pang Xinghuo, deputy director of the Beijing Center for Disease Control and Prevention, at a press briefing on Tuesday.
Two districts in Beijing have been upgraded from medium-risk areas to high-risk areas. The city currently has 12 high-risk areas and 34 medium-risk areas in total.
Beijing will postpone school reopening for one week after the Labor Day holiday, according to Li Yi, the spokesperson of the Beijing Municipal Education Commission.
