At least two people were found dead in the rubble of a collapsed residential building in Changsha, central China's Hunan Province, authorities told a press conference on Tuesday afternoon.

The two deceased were found as rescuers searched for signs of life in the wee hours on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, another nine people who were extracted from the building are being treated for fractures and post-traumatic stress at a hospital.

One of the injured is in critical condition while the rest are stable, officials said.

Rescue operations for more survivors are continuing.

The self-constructed building in Changsha's Wangcheng District toppled at 12:24 p.m. on April 29.

Arrests of nine people in connection with the accident were approved by the city's Procuratorate on Tuesday.
