China on Thursday called on the international community to create enabling conditions for Russia-Ukraine peace negotiations and do more to facilitate a political settlement, rather than the other way around. "It is not only morally despicable to try to benefit from aggravating the conflict, but also dangerous in reality. Doing so is doomed to backfire," China's permanent representative to the United Nations Zhang Jun said during a Security Council briefing on Ukraine.
