Fighting has continued among Russian troops, Donetsk militia and Ukrainian forces inside the blocked Azovstal steel plant in Mariupol. A soldier from the Donetsk militia described recent fighting at the compound of the Azovstal plant. Mayor of Mariupol Vadym Boichenko said there was heavy fighting on May 4 at the Azovstal plant, adding that contact had been lost with Ukrainian forces inside the plant. The Russian military announced on May 4 that it will open a humanitarian corridor from May 5 to 7 for the evacuation of civilians.
