Havana hotel blast death toll rises to 31
00:49

Authorities in Cuba say the death toll from Friday's explosion at a luxury hotel in Havana's old quarter has risen to 31. Firefighters continue to comb through the rubble. On Sunday, the Public Health Ministry said 24 people were being treated in hospital. The powerful blast is thought to have been caused by a gas leak. The deadly explosion hit the five-star Hotel Saratoga under refurbishment in downtown Havana, Cuba on May 6. Cuba's president said the blast was "not a terrorist attack," and a gas leak was most likely the cause. The hotel had been set for a post-pandemic reopening in four days, hotel officials said.
