Sri Lanka's Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and his entire cabinet has stepped down. He sent his letter of resignation to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, his brother, amid wider calls for reform. 

The news comes after clashes between pro- and anti-government demonstrators in the capital Colombo erupted, leaving dozens injured. One ruling party lawmaker has reportedly been killed along with another person. The country is facing its worst economic crisis in decades and has spurred rallies over the past weeks.
