China activated an emergency response for flood control as heavy rain hit southern parts of the country on May 9. The State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters launched a Level-IV emergency response for flood control as more downpours are forecast to batter more parts of the country until May 13. The headquarters called on several provinces, including the provinces of Jiangsu and Fujian in the east and southeast, and central China's Hunan Province, to emphasize the heavy rainfall response and take preventive measures to foretell and defuse dangers to ensure people's safety.
