Sayram Lake is welcoming spring, as temperatures warm up in Bortala, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. To the north of the lake at the foot of the Tianshan mountain range, wild tulips are blooming. They flower from late April to mid-May. At an altitude of more than 2,000 meters, Sayram Lake is the highest and largest alpine lake in Xinjiang.
