The Chinese mainland recorded 324 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, with 302 linked to local transmissions and 22 from overseas, data from the National Health Commission showed on Wednesday.

A total of 1,603 new asymptomatic cases were also recorded on Tuesday, and 79,926 asymptomatic patients remain under medical observation.

Confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland now number 220,721, with the total death toll from COVID-19 at 5,198.

The latest tally of confirmed cases in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan region is as follows:

Hong Kong: 331,361 (60,718 recoveries, 9,352 deaths)

Macao: 82 (82 recoveries)

Taiwan: 448,323 (13,742 recoveries, 943 deaths)
