The European Commission plans to present a legal proposal to make the evasion of sanctions a crime in the European Union, Politico reported on Wednesday.

The step, expected in two weeks, would help member countries confiscate assets frozen as part of the sanctions against Russia, Politico reported, citing two officials with knowledge of the proposal.
