The International Energy Agency (IEA) has lowered its forecast for oil demand this year by 100,000 barrels per day (b/d) and expects oil demand to increase by 1.8 million b/d in 2022 on average to 99.4 million b/d, according to the May report of the organization, due to soaring pump prices, slowing economic growth and the spread of COVID-19.
