The Memphis Grizzlies pulled one game back with a 39-point win over the Golden State Warriors 134-95 in Game 5 of the NBA Western Conference semifinal to make the series 3-2 on Wednesday.

The Grizzlies were still without star player Ja Morant due to injury but started the game strongly and never trailed, as they scored 77 points in the first half and led by 55 points in the third quarter.

Jaren Jackson Jr., Desmond Bane and Tyus Jones each scored 21 points for the Grizzlies, while Klay Thompson led the Warriors with 19 points.

Elsewhere, Jrue Holiday delivered a block and a steal within the final 8.1 seconds to help the Milwaukee Bucks beat the Boston Celtics 110-107 and take a 3-2 series lead in the Eastern Conference semifinal.

Also on Wednesday, Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 2021-22 NBA season, taking home the trophy for the second consecutive time.

Jokic, 27, averaged 27.1 points, 13.8 rebounds, 7.9 assists, 1.47 steals and 0.85 blocks per game from 74 games played in his seventh season in the NBA, leading Denver to enter the playoffs for the fourth consecutive time.
