Moscow says Western countries were worse hit by sanctions than Russia. Russian President Vladimir Putin made the remarks following U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen's comments that sanctions are having a "very severe" impact on the Russian economy. Putin blamed Western elites for initiating sanctions against Moscow and said they've had reverse consequences on the West, and have impacted poor countries.
