Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed Ukraine with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on humanitarian aspects on Friday, reported Russia's RIA News Agency, citing Kremlin.

Putin outlined the logic and main objectives of the "special operation" to protect Donbas and spoke about the measures taken to ensure the safety of civilians.

A fundamental assessment was given of the state of affairs in the Russian-Ukrainian negotiations, which Kremlin deemed to be essentially blocked by Kyiv.
