Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto has stated at a press conference on May 12 that Finland's decision to join NATO is more of a security guarantee. In an interview with China Media Group, Haavisto said he wants to maintain a peaceful border with Russia despite applying for NATO membership. Earlier on May 12, Finland's leaders had come out in favor of rapidly applying for NATO membership.
