At the Chinese Foreign Ministry's press conference on Monday, a reporter asked for China's comment on Finland's decision to join NATO. 

China hopes that all parties will solve the European security issue on the premise of respecting each other's reasonable concerns to achieve lasting stability in Europe, Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said at the briefing in Beijing.

Finland's President Sauli Niinisto and Prime Minister Sanna Marin on Sunday jointly announced that the country has taken the official decision to start the process of its application to become a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
