McDonald's is selling its Russia business after three decades of operations as it looks to leave the country completely, the company said in a press release on Monday.

Chris Kempczinski, chief executive of McDonald's, said "this is a complicated issue that's without precedent and with profound consequences."

McDonald's suspended operations in Russia in early March "amid the conflict in Ukraine and the humanitarian crisis in Europe."
