U.S. fast-food giant McDonald's confirmed on May 16 that it would leave and sell its 850 restaurants in Russia. The move is due to "the humanitarian crisis" in Ukraine and an "unpredictable operating environment" that McDonald's said had made doing business in Russia "no longer tenable." McDonald's said it was losing $55 million each month due to the restaurant closures and also lost $100 million worth of inventory.
