The United States has played a key role in accelerating Finland and Sweden's NATO membership process. The U.S.-led organization has been expanding by tempting potential members with security aid during the past decades. However, seemingly being protected by NATO, the members have already lost their strategic autonomy at large, becoming tools for the U.S. to control Europe.
