French President Emmanuel Macron said on Thursday that he wanted the European Union to give a "quick opinion" on Moldova's request for membership of the bloc, as he hosted a meeting with Moldovan President Maia Sandu in Paris.

Macron added that the risk of the conflict between Ukraine and Russia spreading to neighboring countries could not be ruled out.
