State of emergency lifted in Sri Lanka

The state of emergency, which has been in place since May 6, was lifted on Friday midnight because the emergency bill was not approved by parliament, local media newswire has reported.
Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa declared the state of emergency, for the second time, in early May, giving security forces sweeping powers.
