During U.S. President Joe Biden's first visit to Asia, South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol signaled that the country would join the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework, a new trade initiative proposed by the U.S. It's expected that Washington will look to strengthen its regional security strategy in East Asia. Dr Xue Chen, a research fellow at the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies, said that the framework will restructure the supply chain globally by excluding China, and may not work at all.
