There are three kinds of peacocks in the world: the green peacock, the blue peacock and the Congo peacock. Among them, only one species is found in China. The green peacock, which is native to China's Yunnan Province, is one of the world's most endangered wildlife species. According to the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, there are only 485 to 547 green peacocks in Yunnan. In recent years, Yunnan has started the artificial breeding and reintroduction of green peacocks and protected their habitat. There is great hope for the recovery and growth of the green peacock population.
