U.S. President Joe Biden said the United States would defend "Taiwan militarily" during his visit to Japan on May 23. In response, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said China would take resolute action to safeguard its sovereign and security interests, and advised not to stand in opposition to 1.4 billion Chinese people.
