Oriental white stork, hailed as the "national treasure" of the bird kingdom, is under first-class state protection in China with only a population of 7,400 nationwide. They spend winter on the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River every year and build their nests at some high places like power transmission towers.
Three months ago, an oriental white stork couple welcomed newborns on a power transmission tower in Gaoyou City, east China's Jiangsu Province.
