Inflation, food insecurity worsen as Russia and Ukraine keep fighting
01:00

It's been three months since Russia launched its special military operations in Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called for efforts to rebuild Ukraine's cities and industries, saying the war has caused more than $500 billion of damage to the country.

The United Nations (UN) says global inflation is set to reach 6.7 percent this year, with sharp rises in food and energy prices. Soaring energy prices have dealt a shock to the European Union, which imported nearly 58 percent of its total energy consumption in 2020. The UN also says more than 15 million people are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance.
