Russia would achieve its objectives in Ukraine without being constrained by deadlines, Russian Security Council secretary Nikolai Patrushev said Tuesday in an interview with the Argumenty i Fakty, a Russian newspaper.

"All the goals set by the president will be fulfilled. It cannot be otherwise, because truth, including historical truth, is on our side,"  he said, adding "we are not chasing deadlines."

Russia launched what it called a special military operation against Ukraine on February 24.
