WHO: there's no urgent need for mass monkeypox vaccinations
01:15

The World Health Organization (WHO) does not believe the monkeypox outbreak outside of Africa requires mass vaccinations, a senior official said on Monday. The statement came after more than 100 suspected and confirmed monkeypox cases had been reported in Europe and North America. The U.S. state of Florida reported its first presumptive monkeypox case on Sunday, which is related to international travel. U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) confirmed one case in Massachusetts last Wednesday. In New York City, a resident tested positive for the virus on Friday.
